Message from the Minister for Small Business
Support Small Business Day – celebrating the great contribution small businesses make to our local communities on Saturday 4th October 2014. Support Small Business Day is a Victorian Government initiative that connects Victorians with local traders and showcases the vital role small businesses play in our community. Last year’s inaugural event was a big success, with over 5,000 local businesses and consumers participating, and your involvement will help make this year’s event even bigger. Small businesses make up 96 per cent of all Victorian businesses and provide 1.2 million jobs. They generate 30 per cent of the state’s output and sales. Such a significant contribution deserves our continued support. Businesses can register on the website and get specialist advice and information, and consumers can search for participating small businesses. So join me and get behind our wonderful small businesses to celebrate Support Small Business Day on Saturday 4th October 2014. The Victorian Government strongly supports small businesses and recognises the significant contribution that they make to the Victorian economy. Maintaining productive, competitive and resilient small businesses is vital for Victoria’s future job creation and prosperity. The Hon. Russell Northe MP Minister for Small Business
